About this tool

Solve an anagram that breaks into several words

Fixes the shape of the answer before it searches: how many words and how short the shortest may be, or the exact word lengths a crossword clue gives, such as (4,4,4).

  1. Enter all the lettersSpaces and punctuation do not change the letters counted.
  2. Set the answer shapeChoose the number of words and the shortest word, or type the exact lengths, such as 5,4.
  3. Compare complete splitsEvery result uses all the letters, grouped by the lengths of its words.

Multi-Word Anagram Solver searches for phrases that use the source letters exactly once while keeping to the shape you set. Fixing the answer at two, three or four words, and raising the shortest allowed word, removes large numbers of irrelevant combinations.

Word lengths are the strongest clue of all. A crossword enumeration such as (4,4,4) keeps every other length out of the search, so answers that a plain three-word search never reaches, like HERE COME DOTS from THE MORSE CODE, come back at once.
