How to make an anagram worksheet

Makes a printable anagram worksheet and its answer key right in your browser, with no account and no download.

  1. Choose the words.Pick a vocabulary level and word length, a theme, or paste the class spelling list.
  2. Set up the sheet.Give it a title, choose how many puzzles, and add a first-letter hint for younger classes.
  3. Print and practise.Print it or save a PDF. New set of words makes another version any time.

Match the learner

Start new readers with 3- or 4-letter words. Move to 5- and 6-letter words for regular practice, or use longer words as an extension task.

Try a timed warm-up

Give the class five minutes, then compare strategies: finding common endings, grouping vowels, or moving one letter at a time.

Make a second version

Press New set of words before printing again for a different sheet: extra practice, another group or a quick follow-up activity.

Quick answers

Do I need to download anything?
No. Select your options and use the print button; the worksheet is made entirely in your browser.
Can I change the heading?
Yes. Type any class, topic or student name into the worksheet title field before printing.
Where does the answer key print?
When included, the answer key starts on a separate page so the puzzle sheet can be handed out on its own.
What if a pupil finds a different word?
The word lists only use words whose letters spell nothing else. Themes and your own words can have a second answer, such as LEMON and MELON, so the key prints every one.
